I’m back again, and today, I want to take you all on an adventure of what I’ve been doing with my alternate account in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). This journey has been both fun and challenging, but as you guys know, building up an alt OSRS account is always a grind. The good news? The alt is getting stronger day by day, and I’m super excited to share some updates with you all.
The Ultimate Plan: A Blood Shard Alt
So, drum roll, please… my alt account is destined to become a Blood Shard Alt! Now, for those of you who don’t know, a Blood Shard is one of the rarest and most valuable items in OSRS. It’s obtained by killing Vyrewatch Sentinels in Darkmeyer or by using a Blood Shard amulet, and these can fetch a significant amount of GP (gold pieces) on the Grand Exchange. That’s the main goal with this alt: to farm Blood Shards to fund my main account.
But wait—before I can start farming Blood Shards, I need to meet certain requirements. To get to Darkmeyer and kill those Vyrewatch Sentinels, I need to complete the Sins of the Father quest. And as any OSRS player knows, this quest has some hefty requirements. So, let’s break it down and see what I need to get done.
The Stats I Need for Sins of the Father
First things first, Sins of the Father requires some decent stats. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’m working toward:
- 50 Attack
- 50 Strength
- 50 Defense
- 50 Agility
- 49 Crafting
- 50 Slayer
- 60 Fletching
The hardest stat to get for me? Probably 50 Slayer. Slayer has always been a slower skill to level up, and unlike some of the others, there’s no real fast-tracking it. Right now, my alt is sitting at 9 Slayer, which I got by doing the Varrock Museum miniquest, but it’s a long way to go. I’ve been doing a bit of Slayer here and there, but it’s going to be a grind to get to 50.
Experimenting with Wilderness Slayer
To make things interesting, I’ve decided to give Wilderness Slayer a shot on this alt. Now, I don’t usually venture into the Wilderness for Slayer tasks because of the added risk of being PKed (player-killed) by other players, but I figured it might be worth it for the additional points and XP boost. Plus, there’s always a chance of getting some PvP loot if things go my way.
At the moment, I’m working on my first Wilderness task, and it’s been going well so far. It’s more dangerous than regular Slayer tasks, but hey, no risk, no reward, right? If I can manage to do some more Wilderness Slayer without getting killed, it might help me hit that 50 Slayer mark a bit faster.
The Current Progress: Stats and Quests
Right now, my alt’s stats are as follows:
- 40 Attack
- 42 Strength
- 43 Defense
- 20 Agility
- 90 Fishing (yep, this guy loves to fish!)
Fishing has been one of the main skills I’ve been AFKing while working on other things. It’s always nice to have a skill you can just chill with while grinding something else. Plus, hitting 90 Fishing is a decent milestone. It’s not super relevant to my Blood Shard goal, but it’s still nice to have it under my belt.
As for the quests, I’ve been making some solid progress. To work my way up to Sins of the Father, I’ve already completed a few of the prerequisite quests like Priest in Peril and A Taste of Hope. These are relatively straightforward, but they’re necessary steps on the path to unlocking Darkmeyer. The real challenge will come when I need to take on the Sins of the Father itself. But before that, I need to boost my combat stats and Slayer level even further.
The Gear Grind: Getting Ready for the Endgame
Now, gear is going to be super important for this alt to farm Blood Shards efficiently. I don’t need to be max combat, but I do need some solid gear to get the job done. Here’s what I’m aiming for in terms of equipment:
- Dragon Defender: This will be key for saving inventory space while grinding, and it provides great bonuses.
- Proselyte Armor: This armor set is fantastic for Prayer bonuses, which will allow me to AFK at Vyrewatch Sentinels longer by using Protect from Melee.
The good thing about this gear setup is that it’s not super expensive or difficult to get, but it will allow me to AFK farm effectively. AFKing is going to be a big part of this alt’s strategy—once I’m set up, I want to be able to farm for Blood Shards with minimal attention. That way, I can focus on other tasks or just relax while racking up the GP.
The Road to Slayer 50 and Combat 50/50/50
The immediate focus right now is getting base 50 stats in Attack, Strength, and Defense, as well as reaching 50 Slayer. These milestones will allow me to not only complete Sins of the Father but also equip better gear, such as the Abyssal Whip at level 60 Attack. The whip is one of the best weapons in the game for training combat, and it’ll make things go much faster once I get my hands on one.
Once I hit those 50s, it’s all about gearing up and heading to Darkmeyer to start farming those sweet, sweet Blood Shards. It’s going to take some time to get there, but I’m confident that this alt is going to be one of the strongest alt in the game for this specific task.
Long-Term Goals for the Alt
While the immediate goal is to farm Blood Shards, I do have some long-term plans for this alt as well. Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Max out combat stats eventually (just because it’s always a good idea).
- Farm enough Blood Shards to cover my alt’s bond costs and make some extra GP for my main account.
- Train Herblore to make Super Combat Potions for both accounts.
- Explore some higher-level Slayer tasks and maybe even try out Bossing on this alt in the future.
Wrapping It Up
That’s where we’re at right now! The alt is getting stronger, and while there’s still a long road ahead, I’m excited to see how it progresses. Building a Blood Shard alt isn’t easy, but it’s going to be worth it in the end when this guy is sitting in Darkmeyer AFKing shards for days.
