How to Farm Millions of Gold in Diablo 4 Season 4

Today, we’re diving into Diablo 4 Season 4 and talking about one of the hottest commodities in the game—Diablo 4 gold. We all know that gold is essential this season, especially when it comes to upgrading gear, mastering your Paragon board, and enchanting at the occultist. Even with the gold cap at 10 million, it seems to vanish quickly. So, I’m going to share some strategies to help you farm gold efficiently and amass millions, if not billions, of gold.

Before we dive into the strategies, it’s worth mentioning that the developers have recently adjusted the gold costs associated with masterworking gear. This change, which was included in yesterday’s patch notes, reduces the gold cost for masterworking, making it slightly easier on our wallets. The first four ranks remain unchanged, rank five is 50,000 less, and rank eight is 200,000 less. Although these reductions help, gold is still crucial, and you’ll need plenty of it. Let’s get into the best strategies to farm gold in Diablo 4 Season 4.

  1. Tree of Whispers

First up is the Tree of Whispers. This method might not be the absolute best in my opinion, but it’s still very effective. To utilize the Tree of Whispers, you need to max out your Grim Favor. Upon turning in your Grim Favor, you can receive anywhere from 3 to 6 million gold for a normal cache and up to 11 million for a greater cache. The exact amounts can feel somewhat random, unlike previous seasons where rewards were more consistent.

In past seasons, opening a normal cache guaranteed 4 million gold in World Tier 4. So, if you could complete 10 Tree of Whispers turn-ins per hour, that would be 40 million gold—quite a haul! This season, however, it appears there is more variability. Here’s a rough estimate based on my experience:

Normal cache: 3 to 6 million gold
Greater cache: 8 to 12 million gold
Greater collection of chaos: 8 million+ gold

To maximize your gold gains, always opt for the greater collection of chaos when available. For example, if you’re at level three and a greater collection of chaos is level four, always choose the greater collection for the best gold return. During my recent session, I received 7 million gold from a greater cache, which shows the potential, though it can vary.

  1. Selling Items

Selling items is probably the most consistent way to accumulate gold. With the changes in the game, our inventories and stashes aren’t filling up as quickly with yellows because we’re focusing more on legendaries. However, if you fill an entire inventory and then sell it, you can net anywhere from 1.5 to 3 million gold.

To make the most of this method, here are a few tips:

Nightmare Dungeons: These are fantastic for farming gold. Completing a dungeon not only gives you a few hundred thousand gold, but you also gather items to sell. Higher-tier Nightmare Dungeons can provide even more gold per run.
Pits: Although less consistent than Nightmare Dungeons, pits can also be lucrative. You might have to do more runs to fill your inventory, but the gold returns are still substantial.
Boss Farming: Bosses like Andariel, Duriel, and others on the boss ladder are prime targets. For example, Duriel can drop around 12 to 13 legendaries per run, which means two runs can fill your inventory. You then sell the items and repeat the process, accumulating gold rapidly.
  1. Efficient Boss Runs

Farming specific bosses can be incredibly efficient for gold farming. Here’s a quick breakdown of some bosses to target:

Andariel: Known for dropping a significant number of legendaries.
Duriel: Excellent for filling your inventory quickly with legendaries.
Gor: Consistently drops a high number of legendaries. You can do two runs, fill your inventory, sell, and repeat.
Varon: Another good option, especially for drops Diablo IV Items.
Beast in the Ice: Although not as fast due to the travel time through the dungeon, it can still be profitable if you collect items along the way.

Avoid bosses like Zur unless you have a surplus of blood to spend. Focusing on bosses with quicker access and high legendary drop rates will yield the best results.

Conclusion

Those are my top three strategies for farming gold in Diablo 4 Season 4: utilizing the Tree of Whispers, selling items, and efficient boss runs. Each method has its benefits, and combining them can ensure you always have enough gold for upgrades and enchantments. During our 60-run Duriel session, we made nearly 100 million gold just by selling D4 Materials we collected, demonstrating the effectiveness of these strategies.
